Santorini is iconic for a reason: these whitewashed buildings, blue domes, and caldera views leave you speechless.
A moment where time seems to stop…we talk a lot about creating “wow” moments in our client itineraries and how that translates into each trip. The scenery, however, does not require any dramatization. Santorini is the perfect destination for romance.
Some notes from my time in Oia…
Because of its popularity, Santorini has far too many tourists, therefore I’d recommend visiting Oia at night after all of the cruise ships and passengers have departed. Additionally, I’d avoid the peak summer months and opt to visit in the Spring or Fall for better weather and less crowds.
Even though hotels are located all along the Caldera, it still felt incredibly quiet and private. The cliffs are so steep that as soon as you walk through reception and down a few steps towards your resort, it’s like the rest of the town disappears and you’re in your own oasis.
With so many wonderful hotels located right next to each other, it’s important to work with a travel advisor to select the one that’s perfect for you!
Mystique Santorini is only a 5 minute walk from downtown Oia but it’s location on the caldera feels very secluded. The arrival experience at Mystique was not only wonderful service, but breathtaking as well. Everyone seemed very friendly and you can’t forget to thank them for the level of care and effort it takes to take our luggage around those cliffs. Our lunch view was just as infinite as the infinity pool and my room was spacious with a minimalist design pointing you to the view. I appreciated the large loungers on the patio.
Design wise, Canaves Ena was beautifully done with earthy tones adding to the whitewashed characteristics we all love. Canaves Oia Suites had picture windows in the rooms, making the view look like a piece of art and all the amenities (spa, infinity pool, etc.) you could want. Grace Santorini is perfect for those looking to be removed from the crowds with panoramic views in Imerovigli village.
I rarely choose favorites, but I’ll give you my personal pick just this once: Canaves Epitome blends an earthy aesthetic with a moody and modern design.
The best part: the hotel faces sunset so you have the perfect vantage point to sit back, have a cocktail, and enjoy the famous Santorini sunset. It’s the only property that offers both sea and sunset views – and it took panoramic to a new level!! The horizon blending into the Aegean over the infinity pool – UNREAL.
This all-villa-and-suite resort is breathtaking, with spacious suites, plunge pools, outdoor showers, and plush loungers that highlight the sunset views in all categories. Perched above the picturesque fishing town of Ammoudi, located just one mile from Oia (offering complimentary shuttles or a 10-min walk), you’ll feel completely removed from the crowds.

For a different view, a sunset cruise is a quintessential experience to take in the island’s beauty. Book with us so we can recommend our favorite charters that don’t overcrowd their boats and offer excellent bbq on board. We offer both private and group charters and for private charters we can elevate the menu, queue the champagne!
Those who wish to uncork Santorini’s viniculture secrets can indulge in a delicious wine tasting and food pairing tour. Santorini is known for its unique and internationally acclaimed wines, thanks to its volcanic soil and special grape varieties. The Rose was my favorite!
For the more active, one of our favorite and most exhilarating ways to explore Santorini’s stunning landscape and charming villages is on an e-bike. The e-bike does all the hard work for you, while you take in the views and fragrances.
Hiking the caldera is another unique experience that offers views of the volcanic cliffs and the Aegean. We know the best trails to stay on and which to avoid, depending on your preferences and fitness levels.
It is a volcanic island, therefore there are beaches, but it is best known for its cliffside and views. The most popular are the Red and Black Sand Beaches.
Taking a ferry offers a unique arrival experience, but it’s also something you need to be ready for.
